SUMMER SCHOOL

Summer is coming! Some people go away, others enjoy a garden BBQ...actors...what if we could offer you something different?

In August, we're providing an intensive 5 day Summer School. A great refresher course for those looking to get back into the swing of things after an awesome summer or, a great way to learn fast and furious.

Each day will contain three sessions - two practical workshops and a Professional Preparation session. Long days, massive rewards. Your week will culminate in a 'Micro-Showcase' to share your work on stage and screen - a short filmed scene and a theatre duologue on stage at 53two.

The course will offer 5 different 'power-shot', intensive modules:

 - Acting for Stage with Simon Naylor:

Working on a simple 2 minute monologue, predominantly using the techniques of Stanislavski and Meisner, to be stage ready, concentrating on performance energy and truthful delivery.

 - Acting for Screen with Karen Henthorn:

Using her years of experience, Karen will spend the sessions honing your performance for screen, developing your awareness of camera techniques and working towards a short, filmed duologue.

 - Movement with Elianne Hawley:

Elianne will work with you on finding a comfort in your whole body and unlocking any potential that is currently unexplored. Using techniques from different practitioners, actors will begin to harness physical instincts and impulses to take into their acting.

 - Voice with Nic Redman:

A look at opening up the potential of your voice, finding a deeper, more controlled breath and unlocking a full vocal range to ensure you're giving your full potential both on stage and screen.

 - Professional Preparation:

With visiting industry professionals, every day will involve mock auditions, QnA's, Meetings and Lectures with some of Greater Manchester's leading directors, producers, casting directors and practitioners.

Running Mon-Fri from a 9:30am Warm Up until 9pm, attendees will benefit from 5 full day's training and learning with some of the best practitioners in the country, all of whom are still active in their fields and teaching at leading drama schools across the country.

PLEASE NOTE: The course is a progressive course and in most instances work will be done primarily in pairs/groups, running to the model of professional actor training. Whereas we fully appreciate that there are some unavoidable situations, we would ask that students only sign up to this course who can FULLY commit to the full 5, full days. In missing a session, not only will your work suffer, but your absence will have a detrimental effect on your working partner.
