With Simon Naylor
Always been terrified of Shakespeare? No idea what it means? Can't use your own accent to speak it? Now is the time to lay down some serious work to uncover the beauty of the text and how to crack it.
These workshops takes place over four, 90 min sessions (or until we finish!) and will involve work on iambic pentameter, the rhythms and how to use them and will involve using a selection of script extracts from Shakespeare's most famous texts. We will work through these scripts, stripping back the language and highlighting the ease that this incredible writing has beneath the fear we all suffer from! From here, each person will have a two minute monologue to work on, spending some time in the sessions utilising the skills already discussed and deploying all of those, as well as focussing on those elements of delivery required for a performance.
COVID SAFE? This class takes place inside at 53two studios. Early lessons will be seated at a table, with no more than 6 students, all 1.5m apart. Travelling to the classes will require wearing a mask and we will ask all attending to 'check in' on our Track and Trace system. In the later weeks, when working on individuals monologues, actors will be asked to stand, one at a time, at a distance of no less than 3m from the rest of the group, to deliver and workshop their piece.
Hand sanitiser and wipes will be in the studio at all times. For full details on the changes we have made at the studios to protect you and ourselves, please head to our Covid Guidelines. Every person in the studios will be asked to confirm they have read these guidelines and will operate within them.
