With Skye Hallam

On these 1 day Meisner intensives we will be going through all the core elements of ‘Contemporary Meisner technique’ helping you to feel confident with each of the exercises and ready to apply them to your next audition or job!

Meisner technique is the backbone of great acting as it focusses on…

  1. being present

  2. being open and

  3. working from impulse

It’s all about connecting to the scene and given circumstances whilst connecting truthfully and playfully with your scene partner.

Meisner technique is one of the most practical and free flow of the established acting techniques as it’s so approachable for actors to jump in and try. This is why it’s one of the most practised techniques in drama schools and in professional acting environments in the world.

These two courses are suitable for actors of all levels of experience - you decide where you fit. Whether Meisner is new to you or if you’re more experienced and you’d like to keep your hand in and keep developing your skills/experience with the technique.

On the Saturday Foundation in Meisner intensive we will be exploring all the core elements of ‘Contemporary Meisner technique’, helping you to feel confident with each of the exercises and ready to apply them to character and text.

We will also start to work with ‘wants’ and character work. You’ll get a chance to work with lots of different people and work on group exercises as well as more focussed duologue work.

On the Sunday Advanced Meisner session we will be touching on the core elements of the technique with a heavier focus on applying it to text and character, ready for your next audition or project! We will be diving deeper into the repetition work, looking at independent activities and ‘knock on the door’ exercises before looking at how we apply the technique to text. There will be a short 1-2 minute contemporary scene to prepare beforehand.

Bring yourself, some comfy clothes and be ready to work! Each session will begin with a short physical and vocal warm up and a chance for us to come into the room and get to know each other before launching into some repetition focussed exercises. There will be a short 1-2 minute contemporary scene to prepare beforehand.
