LIMITLESS IMAGINATION!
It's like MAP 48 but with added pandemic. That doesn't mean we can't have fun, get creative & bring in 2021 with a bang & kick it off with our Fundraising Film Festival and competition.
You've got 21 days to conceptualise, write, shoot, edit and upload your short film. The films will then be shared via an online 'Film Festival' platform for the general public to decide The People's Choice Award. Meanwhile, our industry panel will watch them all and we'll be announcing the winners of Best Film, Best Actor, Best Writer and more, at the start of 2021!

Every 6 months, up until 53two moved out of their arches, MAP has run a 48 hour film competition designed to test the mettle of creatives, but, more importantly, to focus talent, engage people in new ways and to bring together the greatest community on earth - Greater Manchester!
We can't do that just now, so we're moving the goal posts slightly to keep the competition going, but with a twist. It will also help us meet our match-funding goal - for every £1 given, we get £2 (plus gift aid if that's an option!).
So, in essence, you get to help 53two AND you get to be creative, have fun, get yourself SEEN and maybe, just maybe, grab one of our awesome prizes judged by INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS. And it's all done within COVID regulations!
YUP! I'M INTERESTED...WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?
So, it's much like the old-faithful MAP 48. However, because we can't get in a
room together with other humans, we're going to pivot it all to an online Film Festival style competition. ANYONE can enter; any age, any background,
anything you like - no experience is required. All you have to do is;
- Receive the name of a household prop from MAP
- Create a story surrounding that prop
- Shoot it...on anything - Iphone, Black Magic, Potato - it doesn't matter
- Edit it! Make your film up to 2:20 in length - not a second longer (exc credits!)
- Enter it into our competition - you'll have 21 days to complete it
- Films will be shared with the shortlisted films showing in a special PREMIERE
- Prizes will be given to the top entries for actors, edits, creativity and more

ALL TEAMS MUST BE ENTERED BY 25th DECEMBER!
Once you're signed up, sit tight and we'll send you your household item, that will work as your 'key prop', on Christmas Day - because who doesn't want that little treat under their tree?
Then, you've got 21 days to get it completed. We don't care who you use to shoot, edit, act... as long as you're doing it safely!

TIPS
Top 5 tips from the team behind MAP21....
1. Play to your strengths! Not a writer? Put your time into getting filmically creative! Never edited before? Get your writing on point! We're looking for creativity, not Spielberg!
2. Use what you've got! Live in a house? Don't write a short film on a spaceship!
3. Give yourself time and don't over-complicate it! Perfect planning is key!
4. Keep us interested; visually and aurally - will another monologue on a blank wall do this?
5. If you're recording sound, get it right. A beautifully shot film with poor sound, really hurts!

I DON'T HAVE A TEAM. WHAT SHALL I DO?
Don't panic. Remember that you can just shoot on your phone and it doesn't need to be Oscar worthy. We're looking for creative, inspiring, clever films and in particular, films that use the prop. If you're worried about editing, sign up now and use this time to get those skills down. It's really simple and we're here to answer any questions you might have about it. Alternatively, use Social Media to build a team. Shout out on twitter and tag us in (@maplatform #MAP21) and we'll retweet. there's always people looking to help out and practice their craft!
WHAT IF I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY TO ENTER?
That's fine. The entry is a suggested donation which means you can pay £0 or £200 (or even more if you like!!) to enter. The donation suggestion is just to help us meet our match-funding amount. We don't want to exclude anybody and so we wont!
CAN I USE A FILM I ALREADY HAVE?
In a nutshell, no. That's cheating...and would it have your prop in it?
I'M STRUGGLING TO COME UP WITH IDEAS. HELP?
Don't panic! Start by scribbling down ideas that pop into your head, every day. Use the notes app in your phone or grab a little note book. Wait until you've got your prop and then see if anything clicks in to place with your notes and that prop. If not, take the prop and start to write about anything it makes you feel; memories, jokes, places you've visited, things you've eaten. Then begin to write a monologue about these things and expand from here. Always check back to your notebook for inspiration and developmental stories you can add in!
I'M A TECHNOPHOBE BUT I WANT TO ENTER! HELP?
Again, don't panic. We're not looking for perfectly shot and edited film that look like they're from Cannes. We're looking for creative, fun ideas that can be achieved in whatever tier of lockdown we're in. Use this time now to practice if all else fails, use social media to ask for help - you can tag us (@maplatform #MAP21) and we'll retweet. People tend to want to help!
WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?
These will be announced very shortly. We're hoping to provide the team behind the Best Film with a cash prize. Other prizes will be memberships, headshots, showreel shoots, 1-1 meetings with industry professionals, festival entry etc. In the past we've managed to provide some quality prizes and we hope to do the same!
