Scene Study Weekend

With Simon Naylor

This weekend workshop is designed for actors at all stages of their career. The two days will take actors through the process of engaging with the craft of acting from receiving a script, through breaking it down and making choices, right through to getting on your feet.

Using the skills of Uta Hagen, Stanislavski, Meisner and more, actors will be encouraged to explore processes to find their own and have the foundations needed for a positive experience on every job. Each actor has their own process and these two days will consolidate, refresh and develop that using a basic theatre scene text.

Whether you're just starting out, looking to refresh your work or in search of a new approach, using over two decades of experience on stage and Screen and 15 years teaching experience across the country, Simon will share his methods, his mistakes and his successes and work with the actors on how to 'mine' their text for clues, find freedom in choices in the rehearsal room, to find a confidence in following impulses and to trust instincts in the pursuit of a truthful, detailed and honest performance.

This course is essential in the ever changing industry, whether a seasoned professional looking to further fill their tool-kit or re-boot their process, or for actors just starting out, wanting to reaffirm their process and explore new techniques. A power-shot two day course combining anecdotal audition and self-promotion work, personal processes and the works of Meisner, Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, Boal and more, to give a fully rounded package for anyone looking to get ahead in acting.
